Recognition of a Customer’s Expectation of Policy

Financial institutions need to address the privacy expectations of their customers and be able to explain principles of financial privacy to their customers in an appropriate fashion.

At Merchants and Farmers Bank, we believe the confidentiality and protection of customer information is one of our fundamental responsibilities. And while information is critical to providing quality service, we recognize that one of our most important assets is our customer’s trust. Thus, the safekeeping of customer information is our priority.

Information Management Practice

Information about consumers is accumulated from a variety of sources. Some information is provided to Merchants and Farmers Bank directly by customers themselves. Other data is developed by Merchants and Farmers Bank as a function of providing a product or service to a customer. Still other information is obtained from outside sources. We will limit the use and collection of information about our customers to that which is necessary to administer our business, provide superior service, and offer opportunities that we think will be of interest to customers. This means that we will use information to help us identify and mitigate potential risks or loss to Merchants and Farmers Bank. We will use information to help identify additional products or services which we believe customers might want to know about. This information will be used only in accordance with the principles set out in this Policy.

Maintenance of Accurate Information

Merchants and Farmers Bank has established procedures to ensure that our customer information is accurate, current and complete, in keeping with reasonable commercial standards. We also will to respond to requests to correct inaccurate information in a timely manner.

Limiting Employee Access to Information

At Merchants and Farmers Bank, employee access to personally identifiable customer information is limited to those with a business reason to know such information. Employees are educated on the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of customer information. All Merchants and Farmers Bank employees are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of customer information.

Security Procedures

Merchants and Farmers Bank is committed to the security of our customer’s financial and personal information. All of our operational and data processing systems are in a secure environment that protects their account information from being accessed by third parties. We maintain and grant access to customer information only in accordance with our internal security standards.

Disclosure of Account Information

Merchants and Farmers Bank places strict limits on who receives specific information about customer account or other personally identifiable data. We may share information with unaffiliated companies when; 1) the information is provided to help complete a customer initiated transaction; 2) the customer requests or permits it; 3) the disclosure is required by or allowed by law (e.g., subpoena, investigation of fraudulent activity, request by regulator, etc.) or 4) the customer has been informed about the possibility of disclosure from marketing or similar purposes through a prior communication and given the opportunity to decline (i.e., “opt out”)

When the Bank conducts business with third parties, it requites its vendors and suppliers to maintain similar standards of conduct regarding the privacy of personally identifiable customer information provided to them.

Account Safety Tips

Help us to help you protect your account by reading the following list of safety precautions.

• Do not give out your account number to anyone who calls you. If we call you, we already have this information.

• Do not give out your PIN number to anyone who calls you. If the bank calls you, we do not need this information from you.

• If someone calls you stating that he/she is an employee of the bank or working on the bank's behalf, do not give him/her any information. Call the bank at 662-252-1341to verify the authenticity of the caller.

• Do not call the verification number the caller give you; use the number above or look it up in the directory.

• We never send emails requesting account numbers, PIN numbers, or passwords. We will not ask you to click on a link or visit a site to verify account numbers, PIN numbers or passwords. Do not answer the emails. Please notify us if you receive one of these emails.

• Banking regulators and law enforcement officials do not call bank customers as a part of their investigations. If someone calls you claiming to be a bank regulator or law enforcement agent, notify the bank immediately.
